Ta-dah

So, here's my chair I mentioned a few posts back.

All nicely darkened down but now looking a bit chilly! Definitely needs wrapping up in a nice warm velvet don't you think? Things have been very busy round here lately but with some time to spare I'm looking forward to getting this one finished and seeing it's new look.

One week on

Here I am again, writing my post following another upholstery class.
Hopefully there won't be a full week till my next post this time!

So, this is what I'll be tackling next.
So far, I've stripped it back and think I'll ebonise the frame.

I'm thinking of using a nice rich velvet for the upholstery as I want to retain a classic feel to complement the age of the chair.

I particularly love the fabric on the seat pad above, available from Linwood.

Their fabrics are ideal for what I'm looking for...the velvets for a traditional feel, with a contemporary twist through the use of pattern and they also have a lovely range of colourways. I'll let you know what I decide!

Monochrome magic

I love the striking pattern on this settee available from Wisteria.
Tonight was my first night back at my upholstery course and a great one at that. I'm feeling particularly inspired at the moment, so looking forward to bringing some ideas to life sometime soon. x

Three Days

I took this last photo through the windscreen of our hire car, a little over three days ago, yet now it seems like a distant memory. (I found myself slightly obsessed with the local goats and their amazing rock-climbing abilities!)

It's funny how quickly you slip back to reality though isn't it?

The last few days have flown, catching up on e-mails in the office and all the necessary things you do when you return from time away.

We've also been looking forward to the delivery of our newly upholstered sofa for the office above. It's an old Habitat one which was given to us along with a couple of chairs in return for some help I've been giving my friend's parents in their home. Thanks Jan & Mary - we're loving it!!

And finally, (I know you shouldn't start a sentence with and..) the curtains have been going up in a scheme I've been working on for a lovely couple which is nearing completion. It's always lovely to see a job coming together, so all in all it's been a busy but satisfying week so far. Hope you've found that too!
