Are you seeing what I'm seeing?

Waxing lyrical

It doesn't take much to get me talking about the work of Jo Berryman and a lot more to get me to stop!!

To my delight, the February issue of Living etc which arrived today features Jo's latest project - The Folly, a 16th century farmhouse in the Cotswolds. Yes, palpitations ensued - this woman has a serious knack for creating amazing spaces!

Jo's enviable style is evident throughout the farmhouse, yet she has remained sympathetic to it's history and her ability to combine antique finds with glamorous touches couldn't work better in such a space.

What's lovely to see are elements of her North London home, such as artwork and select pieces of furniture looking so at home in a distinctly different setting.

The one thing I really admire and which is evident throughout every Matrushka scheme is the extremely effective use of colour. Matt, chalky shades tend to be used as a base creating a blank canvas, and combined with pieces of art and accessories, they really help to bring out the tones and hues of these objects.

...The best part, the Folly is available to rent !!

Yes, long walks in fresh country air followed by evenings by the fire with friends and comforting suppers cooked on the kitchen's Aga can be yours too! I know where I'd like to spend my next weekend away!!

Just the perfect weekend retreat don't you think? x

Couldn't resist!

Two posts in one day?!
I expect you'll be falling off your chairs and spilling your cups of tea over those keyboards!!

I just had to post this image of the house of Swedish blogger and decorator, Maliin Stoor, found whilst soaking up another dose of the gorgeousness that is Emma's Design Blogg.

It was the natural light streaming in through those doors which caught my attention, not to mention the beautiful decor! You know the light I mean, late afternoon on a Winter's day, not long before the sun slowly begins to set. I just love it!

Please head on over here if you haven't already been and take a look....this small picture really doesn't do it justice!

Oh and that branch light...!!

Burgundy

Isn't this table setting simple, yet stunning?

Loving the pale wood kitchen units too and the open shelving stacked high with plates and storage jars. All in all a gorgeous, unassuming space...perfect for warm winter meals with friends.

I'm actually off to do just that with my lovely friend Ange in her new home.

Have a lovely evening everyone. xx

A taste of Persia

Well hello November!!
I realise I was not around much last month and I had mainly been spending evenings helping out here.

Yes, my mum and dad have finally had all their furniture taken out of storage, and whilst I haven't enjoyed having a load of my old junk being dumped on me, it's been lovely unpacking items which have been in the family for years and remind me of days in my old homes. One such item is a lovely Persian rug which sadly spent years rolled up in their old garage (as it had a piece missing in order to fit round a fireplace at some point! - The things people do!!!) You can just see it in the bottom picture here.

Mum has decided to have it cleaned up and made into separate smaller rugs which I think is a nice idea. I also think a patchwork like this would be a great use for it too!

I love the use of the Persian rugs in these homes.

Lilac hues

I was having a look through a few folders on my laptop today and came across these images.

I had initially saved them as I was drawn to the more unusual colour combinations. It's funny how lilacs and purples are the recurrent shades in each of these images which I hadn't realised to begin with.

I've never been a huge fan of purple but I can say it's really beginning to grow on me. I love how it acts as a wonderful accent colour in the first image, it's depth and intense contrast with the mustard sofa, and how it provides a soft background for the more prominent features in the room in the last image. I could be tempted!

Aqua pop

Hello. I'm back.
Feeling suitably refreshed and with memories of beautiful clear blue Grecian waters, it's no wonder this image caught my eye whilst catching up on all my favourite blogs. The amazing home of designer and stylist, Lizzie Carney over at Shelter. The peacock helped too!

Marjorie Skouras

No doubt many of you will have seen this beautiful image recently.

I spotted it over at Greige and fell in love with the chandelier instantly...doesn't it work perfectly in that unassuming space?

Oh and just to divert for a sec, take a look at the industrial wedding in today's post over at Greige. Fantastic in every way! Now back to the chandelier (!!) I have to admit, I wasn't aware of the designer right away.

However, a trip to the lovely Ada & Darcy proved very informative and led me to Marjorie Skouras and more of these beauties in plenty of colourways.

Equally lovely interior accessories too...

...and images of her beautiful chandeliers used in her own interior schemes.

Lovely clusters

I have to say, there's something nice about seeing objects grouped together in various settings.
Whilst all of the objects in the pictures above could easily have great visual impact alone, there's something striking about seeing them en-masse. I must admit, if I find a decorative object I love, I do tend to veer towards buying at least a couple. Some things you do have to cluster!

A wee post

Can I start by saying, I'm sorry but I haven't a scooby where I got this image from!
(please let me know if you do!)

I'm just in from a long day on site but thought I'd post this image which I recently sent to my friends Ange & Ben who are buying their first house and wanted some bedroom ideas! I'm very excited for them! I can imagine waking up in this room would set you up for the day! The colours are so refreshing and cheery and I love the unique headboard idea.

What a great way of making use of an old bed base too during that transitional stage between homes, especially if you plan on buying a new one along with a headboard in the future. Plus, it would save you some pennies...always a good thing!

Aged

What I would give to be relaxing in this tub with a glass of red wine, surrounded by scented candles.
Imagine the reflections on those beautiful antiqued mirrors.

I know, antiqued mirrors have been blogged about many a time before but I've come across so many lovely images recently I just had to post them.

This is one of my particular favourites.
I love the combination of the mirrored wall and that statement piece of art.

A nice alternative to your usual mirrored vanity.

Perhaps one day...in a different house maybe.

From a door to a dress

This image of Kate Bosworth seen over at Sweet Nothings stopped me in my tracks.
The nude shade of the dress along with punches of red (!!) shows how a simple and chic outfit can still have such an eye-catching effect with a little use of colour. Not sure it would have quite the same effect on me somehow!!!
