One week on

Here I am again, writing my post following another upholstery class.
Hopefully there won't be a full week till my next post this time!

So, this is what I'll be tackling next.
So far, I've stripped it back and think I'll ebonise the frame.

I'm thinking of using a nice rich velvet for the upholstery as I want to retain a classic feel to complement the age of the chair.

I particularly love the fabric on the seat pad above, available from Linwood.

Their fabrics are ideal for what I'm looking for...the velvets for a traditional feel, with a contemporary twist through the use of pattern and they also have a lovely range of colourways. I'll let you know what I decide!

Monochrome magic

I love the striking pattern on this settee available from Wisteria.
Tonight was my first night back at my upholstery course and a great one at that. I'm feeling particularly inspired at the moment, so looking forward to bringing some ideas to life sometime soon. x

A new month, a new(ish) desk

I woke up today and decided my desk needed a fresh new look.

This is what it looked like this morning (cleared of course!!)

It started life as a pine table which I painted up at the start of the year and the idea was to change the wallpaper under the glass top from time to time which I also had cut to fit.

Whilst it's still officially Summer here in the U.K, the nights are slowly getting darker and I felt like lightening things up around the office.

I used Ribbed by Ferm Living under the glass...

It's funny how changing one little thing can make something feel like new...

...and this is what it looked like this evening. I'm really pleased with it's new found lighter look!
