A ridiculously fantastic kitchen by Windsor Smith!

By the end of this week we should have (hopefully!) finalised our shower room and kitchen fittings!! More to come with regards to our decisions...but why is it so hard when you're doing it for yourself?!!!!

How about this for a pop-up?!

This spectacular temporary restaurant set within a live construction site, is the work of London-based architects Carmody Groarke. What makes this restaurant even more interesting is that it was constructed using borrowed materials from the team on site. I love the concept!

Aside from the dramatic location, it's another scheme which proves how the most simple, raw materials can be used to such great effect. I don't know about you, but I would have loved to have spent an evening here overlooking the surrounding London skyline. I also thought what an amazing space for a wedding reception - as long as none of your guests suffer from vertigo that is!!!!

Well, I can't believe it's Friday again and to think, this time last week I was Paris-bound!

I thought I'd leave you with this lovely image from the portfolio of Minneapolis design firm, Gunkelman Flesher, which I found over at the ever-inspiring, Desire To Inspire! There's something about this room, which to me,  just says 'calm'. In fact, it makes me want to go and bake a cake and drink tea from a china cup! ...Who am I kidding?! 

I love the fact that the room is filled with traditional features such as the soft green panelling and the classic furniture pieces, yet it retains a fresh, almost modern feel. Simple and understated. Have a happy weekend folks! x

An inland sea

Whilst flicking through this month's issue of House and Garden, I came across this amazing light installation by lighting designer, Bruce Munro. 

The images above show how the installation, named CDSea, will look both at night and during the day. One million discs laid on Long Knoll field in Wiltshire will reflect the sun during the day and the moon at night, creating the impression of an 'inland sea' and you can even play your part by sending in any unwanted CD's of your own. Brilliant!

It's a boy!

I woke this morning to the fantastic news that my gorgeous friend Sharon, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy last night! It's not been confirmed yet but he's looking like a Jake, he's nice and healthy and I can't wait to meet him! No doubt I will spend the next couple of weeks looking at anything and everything baby-related, but I loved this giclee print by New Zealand based printmaker and illustrator, Bernadette Sipkes. You can see more of her of her lovely prints here.

We've been Re-Funked!

On the run up to Christmas, Steve and I were super busy putting the finishing touches to the new office and one thing we were definitely lacking were some nice meeting chairs to go downstairs in our meeting space.

So who should we turn to....Re Funk Your Junk of course!

These guys are a furniture recycling initiative with a difference who collect unwanted furniture and reintroduce it to the public in a creative new guise...the services they offer are endless! Their studio is an Aladdins cave of amazing pieces, both funked and un-funked, and for a chair fanatic like me, it was nearly too much to bear! In the end we came away with four side chairs, a coffee table and a nice big table for me which I intend to paint up and use as my desk....more about that later, but in the meantime stop what you're doing and head on over to Re Funk Your Junk for some serious furniture therapy!

Hmmm, I feel another purchase coming on!
